As part of the innovation project 'Remote production with AI', SWISS TXT has released a new video that combines real-world production conditions with the vision of an AI-powered future. The video features Isabelle Benoit, production manager at SRF Sport, as she and her team are producing a UEFA Champions League game at Bern's Wankdorf Stadium. She describes the technical and organisational work involved in such high-level, international live productions – for example, more than 15 SDR and HDR cameras, high quality standards and complex broadcast signals.

It is clear that artificial intelligence could simplify many of these processes in future, for example through automated testing or optimised signals. AI could also open up many new possibilities for audiences, such as smart tracking systems for replays, player stats, automated tactical insights and suggestions for tactical optimisation. Isabelle Benoit also sees great potential in amateur sport, for example football club members could access customised content at a fraction of the cost and effort involved in a professional production. In terms of the key requirements for using AI successfully in future sports productions, she says people need to be open to new things, have an innovative mindset, and be up to speed with the latest technology.

The video shows the gap between current practices and the future vision – and the role AI can play in making sports productions more efficient, more accessible and fitter for the future.
