Media companies like SWI swissinfo.ch and Deutsche Welle DW are facing the global challenge of obtaining authentic, unadulterated content in real time from journalists or private individuals from conflict areas. In return, the war correspondent or private individual in the field is informed that their identity is protected on a permanent basis (protection of sources) and they are also compensated for the content produced.

MediaVerse, an EU research project within the framework of Horizon 2020, is taking up this very challenge: from on-site production to online publication. Blockchain technology ensures the authenticity of the content, protection of the source, and also protects copyright. Furthermore, the content provision platform “Shared Content”, and the workflow platform “SWISS TXT RACU” (subtitling, translation) are also available for use. Other features are offered on the platform:

  • 360° videos

  • automatic subtitling in the original language or in a different language

  • editor options for videos (captions, intro, outro)

The world of journalism of tomorrow will be different: “Citizen Journalists” will create content, transmit it to media companies within a protected framework and even be paid directly for it. For spectators, this means a more timely, more authentic and more real form of reporting.
