News First SRF fictional series accessible to all
SRF sends a strong signal for inclusion: with its new comedy thriller "Maloney", SRF produces its first fictional series in full accessibility. Thanks to its cooperation with SWISS TXT, the series is available in sign language and with subtitles and thus accessible to people with hearing disabilities.
The audio drama "Philip Maloney's hair-raising cases" is now also available in the movies
The stories of the legendary private detective Philip Maloney were shot in film noir style in and around Zurich.
Challenges of producing a series accessible to all
Barbara Rossier, who took part in the production, translated "Maloney" herself into sign language. She explains that "The translation into sign language involved particular challenges. Cultural aspects, such as sarcasm, which are easy to understand for hearing people, must be translated into visual language. Furthermore, the postproduction here required high flexibility to adapt colours, texts and roles, as sign language, written language and spoken language had to be synchronised. We try to make the impossible possible."
The series "Maloney" can be streamed on Play SRF in an accessible manner.
