Description Flagship Innosuisse

Communication is an essential prerequisite for social participation. The digital transformation and the pandemic have widened the digital divide in terms of access to information and communication for people with disabilities. The aim of the Flagship is to develop ICT that enables access for these target groups. The Flagship radically changes production processes: processes that were previously carried out by humans are now being used in a scenario with human assistance from machines. Semi-automated processes will be fully automated.

Thus, thanks to the project, both social and economic value can be created. On the one hand, more information and communication will be made available to people with sensory disabilities, which were previously inaccessible due to a lack of fully automated processes. On the other hand, the process of providing accessibility services to people with sensory disabilities will become more efficient and thus cheaper on the part of service providers. The overall goals are:

  • Text simplification

  • Sign language translation and assessment

  • Audio description

  • Spoken subtitles

The focus here is on cooperation and know-how transfer between the partners involved. Following the principle "Nothing about us without us", the project also follows a participatory approach by involving people with sensory disabilities in all phases of the research and development cycle.
