Innovation A Young European Perspective
The basic idea of “A Young European Perspective” is to encourage young people to weigh in on news from all over Europe safely and anonymously by video on the app. This is a digital innovation project funded by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU). The initiative makes use of technologies such as automatic translation, artificial intelligence (AI) and recommendation algorithms, to give journalists the necessary tools to follow news from all over Europe.

SRG SSR and SWISS TXT developed the Citizen Journalism (CJ) App and the Curation Backend as part of the European Union’s research initiatives. The CJ App forms part of a comprehensive system that enables decentralised content creation - both live and pre-recorded - via smartphone. Users can contribute various forms of media content such as videos, audios or images.
Description Aim and implementation of the platform
The platform contains:
Nudity recognition: a tool for identification of inappropriate content
Source validation: a mechanism to guarantee the reliability of the content
Geofencing: a function to control the visibility of content based on geographical location
Subtitling: a tool for the provision of written translations of spoken dialogue
Spoken subtitles or Text-to-Speech (TTS): a function that reads out written text.
